Meet Rachel Perry: Yoga Teacher and Newest Addition to the Lumi Massage Team.

mudra rachel

We know you foremost as a wonderful person, and as a yoga teacher. But you are a massage therapist as well! Why did you decide to qualify as a therapist?

I wanted to give more effective physical adjustments in my yoga classes, learn more about human anatomy and to incorporate more bodywork alongside my career as a yoga teacher.

Can you describe what your style of massage is and which therapies you offer?

The style of massage that I offer is holistic. The holistic approach sees the client as a whole, taking into account physical and emotional well being. The treatment itself varies from lighter strokes to deep tissue techniques making for a balanced and soothing experience.

Where do you see the connection between yoga and massage?

Like Yoga, massage is a therapeutic experience: sometimes comfortable and sometimes not. Both touch upon our physical, mental and emotional layers, bringing states of steadiness without tension and relaxation without lethargy.

Massage before or after yoga?

I would say after, mainly because you’re going to feel very relaxed after a treatment! It’s best to rest up and allow some time to absorb the treatment.
