September. As the Summer holidays draw to a close, long days and warm weather shorten and sharpen giving way to Autumn. September – a new school year. When we were studying this was a time of big change: new teachers, new friends, new stationery – a clean sheet of paper, a fresh start. Looking ahead at a new school year we wondered what we’d learn, how we’d change, who we’d be.

This is a time to leave behind old habits and routines, and to take a step forward, to grow, to revolutionise ourselves…

The programme combines daily practise, meditation, mindful eating and self enquiry to bring… well, who knows? As Baron Baptiste, the founder of 40 Days to Personal Revolution, says:

Baron gives the example of a rock climber, climbing high then resting on a safe place on the cliff – only to face their fears again and climb on through peril to the next safe spot. Through this process they complete the journey – developing self respect and new perspectives on the way.

40 as a number has tremendous spiritual significance in the realm of transformation. Jesus wandered in the desert for 40 days, Moses roamed the wilderness for 40 years, Noah sailed for for 40 days, in the Kabbalah – it takes 40 days to ingrain a new way of being.

We don’t know, and you don’t know, exactly what the 40 Days will change in you. Only that change will come. Just as you grow up year by year at school, or the climber makes their way up and down the mountain, the shifts take place.

We will come to understand that health and vitality is an outward reflection of good focused intentions. The external body will change – whether in shape, moods, cravings, patterns – positive changes supported by foundations of stronger faith in ourselves.
