Saturday Special – Chaturanga Skills Class with Katie Fobbester

What makes a ‘healthy’ Chaturanga?

Challenging, stabilising and strength building Chaturanga Dandasana (four-limbed staff pose) is probably one of the most frequently practiced yoga postures and because of the repetitions it leaves us more prone to injury than a pose we do less frequently.

Instead of looking for the single ‘right’ alignment in chaturanga, in this class we will consider many options for chaturanga and choose the best option for the person who is doing the practice, you.
This is an opportunity for you to understand what’s happening in your shoulders, elbows and wrists etc and find a variation of chaturanga that works for your body.

You can expect:
• Drills to build strength specifically for Chaturanga.
• We will look at relevant muscles and joints.
• Practice of all variations and modification choices.
• We’ll look at high plank, up dog and cobra, the poses either side of Chaturanga that take you in and out.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Let’s build a practice that can support us for years to come!
